About Chris
Chris Castanien has supported the Nexbase base oil product line with Neste as technical service manager for the Americas since 2014 and now supports Chevron’s base oil slates as global industry liaison. Prior to Neste, he held many key positions for 25 years at Lubrizol, including global mechanical testing manager and 10 years as the industry and OEM liaison.
Before joining Lubrizol, Castanien was an officer aboard a nuclear submarine in the United States Navy. He is a member of SAE and ASTM, and participates as a leading member of American Petroleum Institute committees and other industry bodies.
Castanien received his B.S. in control systems engineering from the United States Naval Academy and earned his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a registered professional engineer in mechanical engineering.
